Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Custom Website developed in Squarespace cost?
Project estimates are tailored to your specific needs, but in general I’ve found that most web projects start around $4,000.
What platform do you use to create websites?
I create all my websites solely in Squarespace, but also offer custom design services when a client needs a custom website created in Wordpress. For these projects, I’ll give you a design quote and will team up with a developer (or work with your developer if you have one you use and trust) who will provide a separate quote for the dev portion.
How do I know if Squarespace is the right platform for my business?
Squarespace is a great fit for you if:
You want a sleek, modern and responsive design that knocks the socks off your ideal client and transitions seamlessly between desktop and mobile.
You need a reliable platform that doesn't require updates, rarely experiences web hosting issues, and offers excellent customer support when you need it.
You need a no-nonsense, easy-to-use e-commerce structure for your online shop that can be customized for an even better customer experience. Bonus points if there's an option to eliminate transaction fees! (Psst: There is.)
You'd like to be able to easily navigate the back-end of your own website. Squarespace is incredibly user-friendly, and you'll be feeling pretty confident after our one-on-one training session at the end of your design period!
You're looking for a simple, straightforward platform without the headache of added widget tools and their fees. Squarespace's annual fee costs between $150 - $300 depending on your plan, and it's all-inclusive (no add-on fees like you'll find with other hosting sites like Wordpress).
What if I only need branding?
You're in luck — though availability is limited, I reserve a bit of space in my calendar for projects like these! Contact me here to inquire about a branding-only project.
What if I only need a website?
I can do that too! It’s really important for me to serve you a cohesive and consistent design, but if you have a logo that you recently had designed, I’m happy to work with you and offer web design services alone. It’s important to note though that I believe the best and most powerful result is when they are crafted together.
Do you offer à la carte services if I just need a one-off project?
Yes of course! No project is too big or too small. I'd happy to help you on business card design, flyer/poster design, social media promotional graphics, magazine/catalogue design and many more. You can find more information here.
What are your payment requirements?
A 50% non-refundable retainer will be due at the time of booking, and the remaining balance will be due on the last day of your design period, before your launch. You'll also need to be prepared to purchase your domain ($20-$50) and your annual or monthly Squarespace hosting plan ($175-$395 annually; $18-$40 monthly).
How do you accept payment?
Invoices are sent digitally via Quickbooks, which allows you to pay through your bank account. This is done to prevent additional credit card fees.
I really want to make this work but I don’t think I can afford this investment right now!
Look, as an entrepreneur myself, I totally understand the financial commitment it takes to run a business! But can you really afford not to? Your brand's online presence is like an interview or a first date, and making a good impression is crucial. You could keep postponing this, but think of how many dreamy potential clients you'll keep missing out on if you don't give your brand's online presence the TLC it deserves!
How do I know if you’re the right designer for me?
Choosing the right designer for your business is a big decision, and I know how scary it can feel! It’s important that your aesthetic matches with mine. Take a look at my portfolio to get a sense for my design style and vibe. Can you imagine your future branding and site fitting in with my current portfolio? If the answer is yes, then we’re probably a good match! But that’s also why I offer a complimentary 30-minute intro call with all prospective clients. Think of it as a way to vet each other - making sure we have good synergy and that I understand your vision. Then, it’s your decision whether you want to move forward or not!
As far as my pricing, I truly believe that my rates reflect my expertise, the quality of work and the time that I will bring to your project, as well as standard rates for the industry at my level.
Unlimited edits!? How does that even work?
At the end of the initial design period, I’ll present a custom homepage design created in Sketch for you to review. At that time, you’ll provide all the necessary feedback and changes until the design feels perfect! For many clients, it takes only 1-2 rounds to finalize designs, but we'll do this as many times as we need to, until it’s just right!
During the second design period once the site has been implemented in Squarespace, we’ll use a feedback form created in Google Docs to keep track of real-time edits and changes. We’ll go back and forth until the entire site has been approved and tested.
Who owns the copyright of the artwork and logos?
After your full invoice is settled, all artwork and logos will be sent straight to you via Dropbox. However, Skye High Interactive is allowed to use all final artwork and concepts for marketing purposes. This means sharing it with my audience on social media and my website.
