5 Reasons to use Squarespace for your Website
One of the first steps in creating a website is to research the available platforms and what is best for your particular needs. Between WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, and Showit (just to name a few), it can be pretty confusing – especially if you don’t consider yourself computer savvy to begin with! This is precisely why I recommend Squarespace — all. the. time. I’ll break it down for you, but for me, it really comes down to 5 reasons: ease of use, plugin accessibility, SEO optimization, responsive pages, and their recently updated app.
1. Ease of Use
As opposed to the other platforms out there (especially WordPress), Squarespace requires absolutely NO knowledge of code or programming and makes it incredibly easy to do everything from adding content, photos, videos, and even marketing. This year Squarespace launched Email Marketing capabilities, so it’s now a seamless process to collect email addresses, create a newsletter, and send it to your list all in one place.
2. Plugin Libraries
There are countless plugin libraries (like Square Studios) that exist purely for Squarespace integration. Their instructions are incredibly easy to follow and make it possible to add custom animations and interactions to your site without any hassle at all. These plugins add that touch of customization, which makes the website feel professional and unique.
3. Optimized for SEO
SEO (or Search Engine Optimization) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results. Squarespace is super SEO friendly, and they’ve built features into their platform to increase your visibility on search engines. You can read all about what Squarespace does for SEO here. Additionally, they’ve updated their platform this past year so it’s possible to see your SEO listing for each page and edit the description for that page.
4. Mobile & Tablet Responsiveness
Squarespace’s Templates are responsive across all devices. Your site’s content will resize depending on which device a viewer is accessing your site from. And you don’t have to design your mobile site separate from your desktop site. You can easily keep the style consistent across desktop and mobile with adjustments in your Style Editor.
5. Editing on the Go!
Squarespace recently launched the ability to edit your website through their ios app, which is amazing! If you’re away from your computer but need to make a quick change on the fly – whether it’s to the actual content on your site, or write a blog post, add/replace images or check the analytics, it’s all doable.
